It's been four years and four trophies for New Trier's girls golf team.
The 2010 Class AA champion Trevians finished second to Prospect by seven strokes Saturday at Hickory Point Golf Course.
Last year, the Trevians were three-shot winners over Homewood-Flossmoor. In 2009, they finished second to H-F by 41 shots, and in 2008, they took third. The top three teams receive trophies.
Elizabeth Szokol was on all four of those state teams.
Szokol, who tied for seventh individually Saturday, and Dana Gullen are graduating, but the Trevians will return juniors Nerissa Denenberg, Ellie McGuire and Callie Nelson, plus sophomore Lois Suh in 2012.
"We're proud we could bring home another trophy. Second place is a great accomplishment," said Szokol,Patient monitor are highly desired because of the following reasons. They are extremely comfortable regardless of weather conditions who will play at Northwestern next year. "We know we could have done better but were happy with what we did. They have a chance for another great season next year."
One more chance for Miller: Stevenson junior Stephanie Miller, the 2010 AA individual champion, finished sixth this year.
She was trying to follow in the footsteps of Conant's Kris Yoo,It was like a different man I was playing, as Dennis repeatedly made strong good drives ping K15 golf clubs, and could reach the green better than he ever had who won back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009. While she missed that opportunity, she will have a shot next year at becoming the 10th girls golfer in state history to earn two titles.
"That was the best I could do for two days, and it wasn't good enough," Miller said. "(Individual champion Allison Walsh of Prospect) shot lights out, and I'm so happy for her. But of course next year, I'll be trying for the title again."
Second in her second class: Last year's Class AA runner-up Sabrina Bonanno of Ridgewood played in Class A this year because the Illinois High School Association changed the class enrollment cutoffs.
She finished second again with a 154, six shots behind state champion Katherine Hepler of Normal University High at the Red Tail Run Golf Club in Decatur. Bishop McNamara's Gina Vallone finished tied for eighth with a 161.
Normal University High won the Class A team title with 686, one shot ahead of Nashville.
Marian Central Catholic took fifth with 720 and Joliet Catholic was 11th with 816.
Beginning for Bing: Waubonsie Valley freshman Bing Singhsumalee led the Class AA tourney after the first round with a 3-over-par 75 but shot a 77 on Saturday to finish tied for fourth with Buffalo Grove's Grace Kil.
"I didn't expect it to be this fun," she said. "I thought it wouldn't be as fun because my team wasn't here with me. Everyone was nice, and I met a lot of great people here. I tried to come here with no expectations. I just went out and played my game, but today my putting (stunk)."
